Learning how to strum the guitar is one of the most fundamental parts of playing the acoustic or electric guitar. Our beginner guitar strumming lessons were designed to get you strumming the songs you love quickly and easily, thanks to the animated tabs and chord charts included in every one of our videos. We’ve done everything we can to make the learning process as short as possible, but the key to learning guitar strumming is regular practice. Our guitar strumming will show you the correct way and technique, but afterwards, it’s up to you.

If you are an absolute beginner, we recommend that you learn beginner guitar chords first, than once you can switch between a couple of simple chords, you can start strumming them as well. Afterwards, learning strumming through playing songs is relatively straightforward and much more effective than practicing strumming and chord changes by themselves, since you’ll be making music. You’ll find that this particular guitar skill will be fairly easy to master, just make sure you get plenty of practice time, that is very important.

Once you're comfortable with most of our strumming lessons, try making up your own strumming patterns as well.
