Notes in A aug A - C# (Db) - F

The augmented chord is a triad built with two major thirds. It is usually notated either as aug or + chord. The aug chord is symmetric. You can divide the scale into three major thirds, meaning that for instance Caug and Eaug will have the same notes. Because of this, there are basically only four different augmented chords.

Chord learning tip 1.

You can practice changing between chords in your head when you are at the office, on the train, or wherever. This may sound silly, but it really helps remember those chords.

Chord learning tip 2.

When playing barre chords, make sure you move your wrist forward further than you would with open chords, this allows for more added pressure to your first finger.
