gt-johnson100I don't promote other guitar lesson websites too often, but when you can get a free guitar, a decent one at that, I owe it to my students to let them know about it.

As you know, I'm friends and affiliated with the guys at GuitarTricks, and they just let me know that until the end of the month, so till June 30, 2013, they're running a special giveaway promotion.

The point is that if you sign up for their annual membership for $129 (comes out to just over $10 per month), they'll send you a Johnson JG-100 guitar for free.

This guitar sells between $75 and $100, so this promo is a great deal.

Click hereย to view the details of the promo, it is available till the end of June, 2013.

Oh, and even if you don't like GuitarTricks and end up asking for a refund, you'll still get to keep the guitar. Pretty risky, but I'm sure they know what they're doing.

Johnson JG-100 demonstration and review

So the Johnson 100 series guitars are basically student guitars.

This means that it can serve 1 of 2 purposes:

  • A starter guitar for new guitar students.
  • A backup guitar for established players. So it's basically the guitar you'd take to the beach, or just haul around everywhere, so you don't risk breaking your more expensive guitar.

Obviously the Johson JG100 is not a $2000 Gibson, so it won't sound like it, or play like it, but for the price and what you would use it for, it's a great value. Especially for free ๐Ÿ˜‰

It's top back and sides is made out of catalpa wood, which resembles spruce, it has good resonance. The wood itself is soft, so you'll need to take care that you don't damage it. But this goes for every guitar basically.

It's not a full scale guitar, so it's easier to play on for beginners, and easier to haul around if you're going to be using it as a campfire guitar.

If you're just starting out learning to play the guitar, this promotion is a no-brainer.

If you are on the market for a backup guitar, I would also recommend you take advantage of promo. Trust me, you can learn a lot from GuitarTricks, I use their site to learn new things all the time.

Oh wait... A guitar teacher uses guitar lessons as well? Yep, you never stop learning.
