Korg TM-40 Guitar Tuner/Metronome Review
This electric tuner/metronome is well built and has 12 note reference. It's pricing is fair as well, presently selling for $22.99 at Amazon. The tuning feature is accurate and responds within a second of the note being struck. The metronome is excellent, featuring different beat modes and a wide BPM range. The memory feature is also neat, it stores your metronome settings after turning the power off. And for the negatives: When using the Tuner and Metronome functions simultaneously, triplets, triplets with center beats omitted, quadruplets, and quadruplets with center beats omitted are not available. Also, there is no backlight, and the bottom buttons are a bit clumsy, making the tuner too easy to turn on by accident, if it's in your bag. All in all, if you are looking for a low priced all-in-one electric guitar tuner/metronome, the Korg TM-40 is a great choice.

![]() I've always had difficulty finding tuners with adequate response, and this one was actually a downgrade from the OT-12 (my favourite pocket-sized tuner), but it surprised me by working better than any previous combined metronome-tuner while not costing much more. The response rate sits at about a medium, The precision is about as good as most will ever need, although it's dubiously delineated between -3 and +3 cents. The accuracy is also as good as could be asked for at its price-range.
